General Information
Just what you don't want to see. You're walking to your car and instead find only an empty space. If you were parked illegally, chances are your vehicle has been towed. By parking on campus, you agree to abide by the Parking Regulations, and failure to do so may result in your vehicle being towed without prior notice.
Claim Your Vehicle
If your vehicle is towed from university property, please contact Parking Enforcement at (812) 855-9849 between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday - Friday. Between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and on weekends, contact the IU Police Department at (812) 855-4111.
To claim your vehicle, you will need to provide the following information:
- Your name and address
- Your IU University ID number (IU students and employees)
- Vehicle description (color, make, model)
- Location you last saw your vehicle

The tow fee will have to be paid by cash or credit card before your car will be released.
Towing Regulations
Illegal Parking Areas
Yellow curbs, fire drives and loading zones are not parking spaces. Your vehicle may be ticketed and towed if it is left unattended in these areas.
Violation of Parking Regulations
Any vehicle in violation of the parking regulations may be towed away without prior notice and stored at the owner’s expense.
Disabled Parking Violations
Parking spaces designated for Disabled parking are reserved for vehicles bearing an IU Disabled parking permit on a 24-hour basis. A vehicle parked illegally in a space designated for Disabled parking will be ticketed and towed without prior notice at the owner’s expense.
Residential Hall Move-in/Move-out
During the period when students are moving in and out of residential halls at the beginning and end of each semester, vehicles may be permitted to stand in adjacent driveways up to thirty minutes for loading purposes. Any such vehicle must be constantly attended by a person who can move it immediately in the event of an emergency. An unattended vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense.
Motorcycles
Motorcycles parked so as to obstruct roadways, hinder university operations and/or damage property are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.
