Helping You Out!
If you want to avoid getting a citation, read and obey the Parking Regulations — and keep the following things in mind when parking on campus:

Get Registered
If you plan to park on campus at any time, you must register your vehicle at the Parking Operations office. Any citation issued to an unregistered vehicle that is not paid within 30 days will be turned over to a third party collections service.

Watch Your Meter
Just visiting? Please keep track of how much time remains on your parking meter. Flashers are never valid at meters, which are only intended for short-term parking. Most meters are 45 minutes to one hour and typically will not give enough time for attending class, as this is not their intended use.

Find Your Lot
Park only in lots where your permit is valid. Refer to our online Parking Map to find lots which you are authorized to park in. Maps are also available from the Parking Operations office.

Display Your Permit
Every student, staff, or faculty member must display a valid IU parking permit when parking on campus. Hang your permit from the interior rearview mirror, facing forward.

Look for Signs
Always check posted signs for restrictions. Wondering what to look for? Check out our Parking Sign Image Library for some examples.

Stay Inside the Lines
Always make sure your vehicle is parked inside—not on or over—the white lines designating a legal parking spaces.
