Have you ever locked your keys inside your car, run out of gas, or had a dead battery? And, to make things worse, you had no idea who to call for help?
IU has developed a motorist assistance program in the event any of these unfortunate situations occur while you're legally parked on university property. Simply call Parking Enforcement at (812) 855-9849 and Motorist Assistance will be there to help you. This service is free up to three times per academic year, and costs $40.00 for each additional call.
Hours of Availability
Motorist Assistance is available 7 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no service on Saturday, Sunday, and any holidays recognized on the IUB campus.
Motorist Assistance is available to students, staff, faculty or visitors conducting legitimate business on campus. The vehicle must be legally parked in a valid campus parking space and, unless a visitor, must display a valid IU parking permit.
The service is free of charge up to three times per academic year. Additional requests for Motorist Assistance are $40.00 per call. The fee is not due at the time of service, but a bill in the form of a parking citation will be sent.
The purpose of Motorist Assistance is to provide motorists with basic services if they should have trouble with their vehicles while parked on the Bloomington campus. Please note that this service does not provide towing services, nor aids vehicles parked in an off-campus location. Additionally, Motorist Assistance is not available for motorcycles or scooters. This program assists with:
- dead batteries
- flat tires
- empty gas tanks
- locked keys in car *
* Motorist Assistance will not attempt to unlock vehicles with air bags in the doors.
